Mildura Health Private Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Sharita Ram as its new Executive General Manager, commencing Monday 16 February.
Ms Ram will lead the hospital’s executive team and oversee the delivery of strategic and operational priorities, supporting the organisation’s ongoing commitment to high‑quality, patient‑centred care for the Mildura region.
Sharita brings extensive clinical, operational and executive leadership experience across private health and aged care. Most recently, she served as General Manager at SummitCare St Marys from 2020 to 2025, where she was responsible for all operational, financial and strategic functions of a 128‑bed facility. Prior to this, she held the role of Hospital Director at Holroyd Private Hospital from 2018 to 2020, leading a multi‑theatre surgical and rehabilitation service.
Mildura Health Chief Executive Officer, Gerard Op de Coul, said the appointment reflects the hospital’s strong focus on patient care, leadership, performance and sustainability.
“Sharita is a highly respected and experienced health leader with a proven track record in strengthening quality systems, improving patient flow, building organisational culture and leading multidisciplinary teams,” Mr Op de Coul said.“Her expertise in strategy, finance and high‑performance leadership positions her strongly to guide the hospital into its next phase.”
Ms Ram said she was looking forward to joining Mildura Health Private Hospital and contributing to its future direction.
“I’m an approachable, solutions‑focused leader who values collaboration and building high‑performing teams,” Ms Ram said. “I’m passionate about improving systems, leading through challenge, and delivering meaningful results that support both patients and staff.”
Ms Ram said her decision to relocate to Mildura was driven by both professional opportunity and community connection.
“After learning more about the role and visiting Mildura, it became clear this was the right fit,” she said.“I was impressed by the hospital, the people and the strong sense of community. This role represents an exciting professional challenge and a positive lifestyle change.”
“I place strong importance on emotional intelligence, collaboration, developing and retaining people, and financial discipline,” Ms Ram said.“I’m looking forward to getting to know the team, engaging with the community, and contributing positively to the hospital and the Mildura region.”
Mr Op de Coul also acknowledged the significant contribution of Trevor Matheson, who has served as Interim CEO since October 2024.
Originally engaged for a short‑term assignment, Mr Matheson provided stability and leadership during a critical period, supporting the formation of a new executive team, leading the development of the hospital’s three‑year strategic plan, and strengthening key partnerships.
“Trevor’s leadership, professionalism and commitment have left a lasting mark on the hospital,” Mr Op de Coul said.“We sincerely thank him for his dedication and wish him every success in the next chapter.”
Mr Matheson will continue his involvement with the hospital, resuming his role on the Private Hospital Committee and supporting Ms Ram throughout the transition period.
