About Dr Irene Kaiboni

From helping to establish Zimbabwe’s first dedicated children’s surgical ward to setting up her general surgery practice in Mildura, Dr Irene Kaiboni has a strong history in medicine.

Dr Kaiboni’s journey to become a surgeon began in the UK where she studied and completed a fellowship in 1988 before returning to her home country of Zimbabwe. It was there she was encouraged to complete further study to help fill a void when it came to providing specialised surgery to children in Zimbabwe.

When she moved to Mildura in 2011, she set up her own general surgery practice at 234 Thirteenth Street and started working at Mildura Health Private Hospital.

Dr Kaiboni continues to perform a wide range of general surgical procedures for adults and children at the private hospital, with one endoscopy list each week and a general surgery list each fortnight.

These procedures include but are not limited to thyroid and breast cancers, hernia repair for adults and children, colonoscopy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, gastroscopy, bowel and colon surgery including cancers, skin lesions, vasectomies, undescended testes and common paediatric surgery.
