Professor Mark Rickman is an accomplished UK and Australian fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with expertise in hip and knee surgery as well as complex and pelvic trauma. He is particularly recognised for his focus on joint preservation, offering advanced arthroscopic and resurfacing procedures for both the hip and knee.

For patients with more significant joint damage, Professor Rickman advocates for personalised solutions in joint replacement, utilising minimally invasive techniques wherever possible—including partial knee replacement and direct anterior approach mini-hip replacements and hip resurfacing. His extensive experience encompasses robotic surgery, patient-specific technology, and navigation, ensuring each surgical plan is tailored to the patient’s individual needs. Mark’s philosophy centres on the belief that every patient is unique, requiring thorough planning and a customised approach for optimal results.

Professor Rickman consults and operates at Mildura Health Private Hospital and Calvary Adelaide Hospital. His clinical specialities include hip resurfacing, hip replacement and arthroscopy, knee replacement and arthroscopy as well as management of complex and pelvic trauma.

He currently holds appointments as Professor of Orthopaedics and Trauma at the University of Adelaide, and Director of Orthopaedic Trauma at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Professor Rickman is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and the Australian Orthopaedic Association, a Member of the British Orthopaedic Association, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
