Our Oncology Unit provides high-quality care for patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) and other specialised medical treatments. Working alongside Medical Oncologists and a multidisciplinary team, including Haematologists, Gastroenterologists, Neurologists and Rheumatologists, you'll play an important role in delivering safe, compassionate, evidence-based care.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Oncology Unit as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM).

Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager, you will help coordinate the day-to-day operation of the unit and provide clinical leadership to the nursing team. You will play an important role in ensuring high-quality, patient-centred care while supporting a positive and professional team culture. 


You will:

  • Coordinate, delegate and supervise the delivery of safe, evidence-based and patient-centred nursing care

  • Provide clinical leadership and support to nurses across the oncology unit

  • Support staff development, education, competency and performance

  • Monitor patients, support clinical assessment and ensure effective handover

  • Act as an escalation point for complex clinical situations

  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures and protocols

  • Hold accountability for the unit in the absence of the Nurse Unit Manager

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic, person-centred care

About you

You are an experienced Registered Nurse with a minimum of three years' post-graduate experience in an acute clinical setting. You have sound clinical judgement, strong assessment and prioritisation skills, and the confidence to provide leadership in a busy clinical environment.

Previous leadership experience is desirable, however we are committed to providing a supportive learning environment for the right candidate who is motivated to develop their leadership and oncology skills.


You must have:

  • Current AHPRA registration

  • Minimum three years' post-graduate experience in an acute setting

  • Satisfactory National Police Check and Working with Children Check

  • Up-to-date required immunisations

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills

  • A caring, empathetic approach to patient care
